DCPS’s College and Career Programs Division is partnering with the Department of Employment Services’ (DOES) Summer Youth Employment program (SYEP). The goal of the Career Ready Internship initiative is to provide students with exposure and intentional work based learning experiences within their field of choice. The partnership will provide paid summer internships for DCPS students between the ages of 15- 21 years of age. This partnership ensures that selected interns will receive specialized employability skills training through their NAF academy or CTE program. All internship applicants will participate in a competitive interview process.
Students will sign up for the SYEP program through the regular DOES portal. Any student wishing to participate in a DCPS Career Ready Internship must complete employability skills training at their school. In order to receive an interview, students must receive a recommendation from their employability skills instructor upon completion of training. Students that are age 16 and up (and complete the Tenacity training) will receive an elevated rate of pay of $10 per hour.
